Tamarind Master Printer Apprenticeship

Every year Tamarind invites 1-2 students who successfully complete the rigorous Printer Training Program to stay on in the professional workshop for a second year of training. The apprenticeship offers advanced training in collaborative printmaking, technical skills in fine art lithography, and firsthand experience printing alongside the Tamarind Master Printer. After completing the one-year apprenticeship and a research project, the student is designated a Tamarind Master Printer.

The 2024-2025 Apprentice Printer is GINNY FIELDING. Fielding is an artist and printmaker from Richmond, Virginia. She earned her BFA from Southern Utah University and followed up with the Printer Training Program at Tamarind in 2023-2024. She began her apprenticeship at Tamarind in June 2024 and will be an integral part of the workshop team through May 2025. Her time at Tamarind will include editioning works by Josh Smith, Ellen Lesperance, and Laylah Ali; and assisting in collaborations with artists Robert Pruitt, Jordan Ann Craig, Judy Tuwaletstiwa, and Raven Chacon.
