2024 Hulsman Undergraduate Library Research Award Winners

Congratulations to Piper Lincoln and Kaitlin Bone for winning the 2024 Hulsman Undergraduate Library Research Award in the Emerging Researcher Category!

Kaitlin Bone (left image), an art major, won first place for her work, “Class Distinctions Between Moche Warriors: An Illustration in Ceramic Vessels.” She wrote the paper for Beth Norwood’s ARTH 2110 class in the Fall of 2023.

Piper Lincoln (right image), an anthropology major, won second place for her work, “Stonehenge: Not So Blank Slates.” Piper wrote this for Beth Norwood’s ARTH 1120 class in the spring of 2023.

The awards ceremony and reception will be in Zimmerman on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, from 3:30-5:00 pm.

Spotlight on Art Studio & Art History Faculty: Featured Exhibitions

Art History Professor Ray Hernández-Durán was recently featured in two articles and interviewed by the Latin American and Iberian Institute. UNM News published “UNM Professors Create Exhibition, First-Ever Scholarship of Local Chicano Artists’ Work” by Anna Padilla, highlighting an exhibition curated by Hernández-Durán and Dr. Irene Vásquez. The show, now on view at the National Hispanic Cultural Center, features six talented New Mexican Chicano artists whose work has been historically underrepresented in academic scholarship.
