This Reading Series features:
Assless Chaps: A Queer Western by Joss Carlisle
2/12 at 6:00pm and 2/14 at 7pm
Assless Chaps: A Queer Western follows a group of ranch hands as they sit around a campfire telling the story of Hody, a genderless cowpoke who starts an underground clothing ring to disrupt the price gouging being done at the local general store by its owner, Clark. Assless Chaps is a story of greed, queer community, and forgiveness.
Daffodil by Eric Craft
2/13 at 6:00pm and 2/14 at 4:00pm
One day a Daffodil living in central New Jersey sees the sky for the first time. With her worldview expanded, she decides to set out to the largest human city on earth: Tokyo, Japan. On the way she meets nihilistic butterflies, a non-binary murderous cult leader, a trio of singing sailors, a jackalope, and many other very grounded and realistic characters, but sparks fly when she meets the Japanese customs officer who holds her ultimate fate in his hands. This is a story about the transformative power of seeing the world in new ways and being just the right kind of selfish.

The UNM Department of Theatre and Dance Ashes: a program of short plays by Samuel Beckett directed by Alejandro Tomàs Rodriguez.
A collection of four of Samuel Beckett’s short works that distill themes of isolation, memory, and the fragile search for connection. With dark humor and haunting precision, Beckett’s minimalist theatre reveals the beauty ad absurdity of the human condition.
Plays:
Rough for Theatre I
A blind man and a man in a wheelchair meet in a darkly comic exchange, circling between rivalry and dependence.
Play
Three figures, trapped in urns, deliver fragmented monologues about a love triangle.
Act Without Words II
Two figures in sacks are prodded into action by an unseen force, each enacting repetitive daily rituals.
Come and Go
Three women sit together and exchange whispers about one another’s hidden fates.
