Impact UNM: Crowdfunding Campaigns
We’re excited to share BIG campaigns where ANY SIZE gift has IMPACT. These crowdfunding campaigns source contributions from a large number of people to provide funding for a specific project. At UNM this is a powerful way to allow faculty, staff, students, and friends to create and share approved fundraising campaigns with an engaged community – YOU!
Support LGBTQ Friendly Feature Film Production and Students’ Hands-On Experience in Film Industry
The Department of Film & Digital Arts, the fastest growing department at UNM, announces award-winning indie filmmaker, educator, and faculty member Jaymes Thompson is launching a fundraising campaign for his upcoming feature film, The Ultimate Male. The movie, an LGBTQ-friendly ensemble and comedy-drama set in 1986, will be shot entirely in New Mexico and highlights the themes of representation and inclusion. “The Ultimate Male” is a nostalgic yet fresh take on the 1980s American culture, following the story of Billy McCain, an innocent young man from Maple Grove, Minnesota, as he competes in the first-ever televised national beauty pageant for men. The film will serve as a hands-on learning experience for students, who can earn course credit through an Independent Production Project course. Students will work alongside professionals in various fields like cinematography, production design, casting, and post-production, giving them real-world experience to help launch their careers in the film industry.
Support Photo Graduate Students
UNM Photo, ranked #8 nationally, actively provides opportunities for students to form strong connections among cohorts at UNM, regionally within the Southwest, and nationally with involvement in the Society for Photographic Education (SPE).
Dance Scholarships Through Friends of Dance
Each fall Friends of Dance hosts an alumni performance to raise money for student scholarships. The performance not only brings together dance alumni who have achieved notoriety in the dance world, but ensures our students have the financial support needed to succeed.
Send Art Students to the Annual College Art Association (CAA) Conference
CAA is a national gathering of art historians, artists, and art educators. Dozens of panels bring hundreds of scholars together to discuss a wide variety of topics in the field. It is a central event for emerging scholars to network with future colleagues and hear the most current research presented by preeminent scholars in the field.
Expanding the UNM Art Museum’s Student Opportunities
The UNM Art Museum serves as a teaching museum to faculty and students, offering student employment opportunities, professional development, and mentorship opportunities to students across the University campus.
