The UNM Art Museum invites you to explore the world of museum careers on Saturday, April 27, 2024, from 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM.

Tamarind Institute is pleased to present Fritz Scholder: 1974–1984, an exhibition
showcasing 20 rarely seen lithographs created by the late American artist Fritz Scholder.
Spanning a decade of his printmaking practice from 1974 to 1984, the selected works reflect
Scholder’s increasing confidence with bold color, layered imagery and expressive mark-making on the press, and chart his evolving balance between figurative and symbolic abstraction, revealing an artist in constant dialogue with his materials and ideas. A closing reception will be held on Thursday, August 21, 4–6pm, with additional programming announced.

The New Mexico Double Bass Workshop will be host to many amazing double bass faculty to lead masterclasses, chamber ensembles, jazz courses, and a double bass orchestra (among other activities) during the days of June 25th-June 29th 2025 at the UNM Center For The Arts!

Our faculty/guest artists currently include Paul Ellison, Joe Ferris, Jack Hanan, Frank Murry, Art Sheinberg, Marco Retana, and Tobias Vigneau. This event is sponsored in part by Robertson’s Violin Shop and UNM’s double bass professor, Albert Laszlo (and his wonderfully supportive wife, Patricia Wood), among other donors. Also featuring a lunch time performance by the Tracey Whitney Trio.

This workshop is open to double bassists of all ages and skill levels, with activities for all! No auditions required; placements will be made using a questionnaire at registration designed to gauge appropriate placements based on skill and interests.

Costs:
Registration Fee: $100 per participant (need-based scholarships available!).
Optional Dorm Fee: $200 flat (double)/$273 flat (single) per participant.
Optional Parking Pass: $21 per car for full week

*Participants ages 12 years and older may stay in the dorms June 24th-June 30th; for participants planning to stay in the dorms, registration/dorm payments must be made by May 23rd, 2025.

*For best consideration of chamber ensemble placement, registration should be completed by June 1st, 2025. Group classes, as well as a jazz workshop class, will be available for those who do not participate in a classical chamber ensemble.
