Serving in her capacity as a Fulbright Ambassador, Dr. Melisa (Misha) Cahnmann-Taylor, a professor in the University of Georgia Department of Language and Literacy Education, is conducting an informational session via Zoom on October 29 about her experience as an artist and anthropologist in the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program. Faculty and students are welcome to attend to learn about the program. The session will highlight Cahnmann-Taylor’s experiences as both a Fulbright Scholar-Artist and working parent in Oaxaca, Mexico, and will also answer questions regarding how to prepare for the entire Fulbright Scholar experience, from submitting the application to the return home. Those who have previously held Fulbright positions are invited to attend and share their experiences as well.
Joining Dr. Cahnmann-Taylor is Bo Shimmin, a Master’s student in Voice Performance at the University of Michigan, who will also share his recent experiences as an English Teaching Assistant in Cagliari, Sardinia (Italy), with the Fulbright U.S. Student Program.
The Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program offers approximately 470 teaching, research, or combination teaching/research awards in over 125 countries. Opportunities are available for college and university faculty and administrators as well as for professionals, artists, journalists, scientists, lawyers, independent scholars, and many others. In addition to several new program models designed to meet the changing needs of U.S. academics and professionals, Fulbright offers flexible awards and multi-country opportunities.
For the 2021-2022 academic year and beyond, many awards are seeking scholars and professionals who can use their expertise to conduct innovative research and lead teaching projects across numerous fields. Opportunities for the following year are available for review in February; application deadlines are in September.
Open to all members of the UNM community.
