Interdisciplinary Film & Digital Media

The Department of Cinematic Arts

Interdisciplinary Film & Digital Media (IFDM) is a model of education giving our students the necessary critical, creative, and technical skills to apply digital technologies in innovative and productive ways

Established in 2005 under the State of New Mexico’s Media Industries Strategy Plan (MISP), IFDM has four objectives: Integrate Filmmaking and Digital Media, Build a Native New Mexican Hollywood, Train the Citizens of New Mexico, and Foster Research.

IFDM recognizes the evolution of cohesive collaboration among the worlds of art, science, and technology and leads the way as a model of interdisciplinary education. IFDM is designed to offer students a degree that can be customized to meet a variety of interests and needs. Students interested in game design, engineering, filmmaking, animation, visual effects, audio production, graphic design, screenwriting, journalism, multimedia, or business, will find a path through IFDM in one of the four areas of study.
