The University of New Mexico’s Department of Theatre and Dance is pleased to announce the 13th Annual Words Afire! Festival of New Plays running April 11 through 20, 2013, in The Experimental Theatre on UNM’s Main Campus. This year’s Words Afire! Festival features three world premieres, written by Zee Eskeets, Kevin Elder, and Christina Hjelm, the current graduating class in UNM’s award winning Graduate Program in Dramatic Writing. In addition, the festival closes with a celebration of the program’s founder Jim Linnell, as Tricklock Company brings his passionate and provocative book of poetry, The Menu, to the stage. The festival provides audiences the opportunity to play a vital role in the continuing development of these exciting new voices, catching them as they step from their academic program towards the professional stage, supported by an outstanding team of directors, actors, designers, and technicians.
