The Pillowman at the Experimental Theatre

The Pillowman at Theatre X

Taking place in an unnamed totalitarian state, Martin McDonagh's The Pillowman is a dark comedy about the loss of childhood, the effect of art and the odd fairy tale. Katurian, a writer, and his mentally challenged brother Michael, are interrogated by Detectives Ariel and Tupolski, two loyal officers of the state with questionable methods. Katurian and Michael are suspects in the killing of several children. Katurian's short stories, inspired by He and Michael's horrific childhood, are being replicating by the killer, right down to every single gruesome detail. The two brother's lives, and Katurian's writings, are at stake. Are they being framed? Are they lying to each other? Is there any escape from a bad childhood? (Advisory: Mature subject matter.)
