The College of Fine Arts (CFA) encourages and supports a vibrant research community. All CFA faculty undertake research to support their own scholarly and creative work and bring the fruits of that research to the students of the University of New Mexico, to their respective fields and to the world.
We are committed to supporting faculty in a broad range of research activities that take place in the archive, the studio, and the practice hall, at exhibitions and galleries, in the classroom and on the stage. The results of this research may be published, played, installed, hung, projected or performed!
The CFA research office oversees internal creative, scholarly and professional development grants. It also facilitates government grants such as those from the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Humanities and the National Science Foundation and with private foundation grants and gifts from funders such as the Andrew Mellon Foundation and the McCune Foundation.
In order to assist you, we have recently developed the Early Alert Form that puts you in contact with the appropriate member of the research team as soon as you have the glimmer of a research idea and wish to pursue funding or conceptual support. There is also a clear pathway toward submitting proposals that can be accessed online. The Grants Handbook goes into further detail and is supplemented by a resource guide with contact information for the research team and beyond.
