ADMISSION TO CFA
If you are enrolled in University College or another college at UNM, you must complete the following requirements for admission to the College of Fine Arts:

1. Completion of 26 hours of earned credit.
2. Grade-point average: A 2.5 cumulative grade point average either on all hours attempted or on the last 30 hours attempted.
3. English 101 with a grade of C or better, or a 29 ACT English score, or a 650 SAT Verbal score.
4. Completion of 12 credit hours of course work in the major area.
5. All majors, except Music Education, must meet with the faculty advisor or the Fine Arts advisor for an admission interview.
6. Music and Music Education majors must have approval as a concentrate on the major instrument or voice.
Applications are accepted during the Fall and Spring semester. The deadline to apply is Friday of the last week of classes for that semester. You can pick up an Application for Admission (.pdf file) at the Fine Arts Advisement Center, CA 1103, or print an Application for Admission (.pdf file) and bring the completed form to the Fine Arts Advisement Center. You must attach an advisement copy of your transcript. If your application is approved, you will be transferred to Fine Arts for the next semester or Summer session.
Transferring from other accredited institutions
If you are transferring to the University of New Mexico after having studied at another college or university, you may be eligible for admission directly into the College of Fine Arts. In general, the screening procedures and admission requirements are the same as those described above for admission from University College. A portfolio or audition may be required.
